My friend Kerry died last week. We came home from vacation today, and there was an email saying that she collapsed at home and died.
I can't believe that my friend is gone. We played together in Owensboro Symphony viola section. Kerry taught 60 violin students in Bowling Green. Every time we talked about teaching, she would tell me how much she loved teaching. When I met her students a few weeks ago, I could see how she touched their lives in such a positive way.
Two summers ago, we went to Kerry and Marty's wedding. Kerry's mother made her wedding dress, and sewed a tiny handmade bear into the bustle. I keep replaying the images of Kerry and Marty on their happy day, and I can't imagine the magnitude of Marty's grief.
